Monday has arrived, and we're super stoked for the grand opening of Richmond's newest Mexican restaurant, Casa del Barco! Though not located in our community, we do have some Rocketts "family" in the operational mix: The Boathouse owner Kevin Healy and our community's developer WVS Companies. And after months of anticipation, we're thrilled to share that their big opening is tonight.
Aptly named "The Boathouse" in Spanish, Casa del Barco is located in the restored Italianate building at The Locks (formerly the Reynolds North Plant) on Richmond's historic Canal Walk. The Boathouse Executive Chef Todd Richardson leads the restaurant's upscale Mexican dining, and the menu and ambiance are in keeping with the awesome riverfront dining experience at The Boathouse at Rocketts Landing.

In addition to a dramatic overhaul of the historic building, they've crafted their eclectic menu carefully, drawing from Richardson’s Mexican roots in León, Guanajuato, and focus on local ingredients from sustainable farms.

As for the beverage department, another member of the Rocketts family has that detail covered: The Boathouse Sommelier (and Rocketts resident) Michael Avery, who rounds out the staff as Beverage Director. With careful attention, Avery’s stocked a bar featuring over 150 100 percent agave tequilas — the region’s largest selection — which will certainly please almost any palate.
So, if you’re looking to perk up your afternoon (or winter), be sure to check out Casa del Barco! Whether to enjoy a drink, a dinner or simply to check out Richmond’s newest dining destination, we’re certain you’ll love what’s in store.

We’d also like to send a huge congrats to The Boathouse’s Kevin Healy, Todd Richardson and Michael Avery, and Richard Souter and Jason Vickers-Smith of WVS Companies. After all the hard work, it’s finally time to enjoy the fruits of your labors!
