RVA Fashion Week kicks off on April 2, and at Rocketts Landing, we couldn't be more excited for the fun to begin.
Not only is there a great lineup of things to see and do, we're also hosting two of the fashion events: Catwalk for Kids of Richmond 2011 and the Grande Finale, which we've recently highlighted on our blog.
You'll need tickets to attend both events, and they are going quickly. If you haven't already done so, we recommend reserving your spot through the RVA Fashion Week's website as soon as you can.
To get you started, here's a recap of the upcoming fashion events at Rocketts Landing:
Catwalk for Kids of Richmond 2011
Catwalk for Kids is a charitable foundation dedicated to helping children with critical medical needs. The event follows up from Catwalk for Kids' community outreach at the Children’s Hospital of Richmond’s pediatric cardiology department where they’ve been visiting and making handbags with patients. Their last outreach raised $270,000 for the pediatric oncology department at MUSC Children’s Hospital in Charleston, South Carolina, so we’re excited they’ve selected to help Richmond-area patients.
The event has a varied lineup for attendees and opens with a fundraiser luncheon at 11:30 a.m. After a tasty meal by Mosaic Catering, you’ll see a runway fashion show featuring the popular designs of New York City-based Tibi, followed by an appearance by Tibi designer and founder Amy Smilovic. You’ll also hear stories from current and former patients who have benefited from Catwalk for Kids’s outreach.
We can’t stress enough how important — and engaging — this day will be. We are psyched!
Fashion Week Grande Finale
As part music show/part catwalk/part local boutique showcase/part fashion trends sneak peek, the Grand Finale is more like an RVA-focused variety show than wrap-up event, and we are ready to include you in the mix.
Entertainment-wise, the Grand Finale showcases music and performances by New England’s Best Dance Crew: The Movement Specialists, “TT” The Artist, The Handsmiths, Manifesto and M.A.S.S. FX. You’ll also learn first-hand the winners of RVA Fashion Week’s Design and Model Competition, which happens on April 6 at CenterStage and features local talent.
RVA boutiques that will be onsite include Lex’s of Carytown, The Phoenix and NYFO (among others) who’ll ensure you’re ahead of the style curve by offering insight into upcoming trends.
With all this in store — and the fact you’ll get to party down at RVA Fashion Week’s only events along the James River — we believe you’ll enjoy every fashionable minute, as will we.
