LOVE is in the air at Rocketts Landing, or rather, on the ground along the banks of the James River! On August 16, Virginia Tourism arrived at The Boathouse restaurant and set up a large, light-filled LOVE sculpture (that they've dubbed a "LOVEwork"), which dazzles over the horizon and our RVA city skyline. And we've absolutely fallen in love with this temporary exhibit and have enjoyed seeing this creative reminder that Virginia is for lovers!
The current LOVE sculpture is part of a bigger campaign that Virginia Tourism has launched throughout the state. Different LOVEworks speckle Virginia landscapes across 32 cities, and our Rocketts Landing sculpture is one of six traveling pieces making their way across the state. According to the Virginia Tourism website, the LOVE campaign’s goal is “to prove that LOVE is at the heart of every Virginia vacation.” They’re encouraging visitors to upload pictures of themselves at the LOVEwork exhibits on the Virginia Tourism Facebook page.
We think this unique campaign is off to a great start! Already, we’ve heard that a couple got engaged in front of the Rocketts Landing LOVEwork, which makes us all giddy inside just thinking about it. So, if you’ve not yet seen the sculpture, be sure to come down to The Boathouse soon. The exhibit is live through September 1. But, be forewarned, when LOVE is in the air, sweet, romantic things can happen, like sipping on delicious cocktails afterward at The Boathouse while the sun sets …
