If there's one thing Rocketts Landing residents know how to do well, it's having a good time together. And nothing better epitomizes their fun than the array of fall Social Committee events this year.
From a costume party to an oyster roast and more, our residents truly enjoy each other's company, which is one of the unique features about our community. As a resident here, you instantly have a network of friends you can count on for good times! Below is a sample of some of the fun they have going on this fall.
Halloween Party
On October 29, the Social Committee broke out their annual Halloween Party with a rockstar-themed costume event, complete with a costume contest, door prizes, potluck (including chicken satays from The Boathouse) and — from what we hear — a killer dance party!
Celebrated in our community’s sales center, rockstars such as Slash and Axl Rose, John Lennon and Yoko Ono, Michael Jackson, Boy George and Nancy Sinatra were among the “featured” celebrities. For the costume contest, partygoers selected Boy George for runner-up (and a $20 prize) and Amy Winehouse took first prize (for a $50 gift certificate to The Boathouse). In addition to the costume contest, door prizes were donated by various residents, as well as The Boathouse, Conch Republic Rocketts, Eurotrash (in Carytown), Glow MedSpa (in Lakeside) and The Inn at Three Bridge (in Powhatan).
Oyster Roast
On November 19, residents will enjoy the Social Committee’s 3rd Annual Oyster Roast sponsored by The Boathouse. Tentatively scheduled for 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. on the Sky Line terrace, residents will dig into an array of raw and cooked oysters provided by The Boathouse, as well as the Social Committee’s homemade Brunswick stew while enjoying music and the fantastic river and downtown skyline views.
The Social Committee also has an upcoming Thanksgiving drive scheduled to raise funds and food certificates for the Neighborhood Resource Center (NRC) and selected Fulton Hill families to help fill their tables with a delicious holiday meal. There’s also a Parade of Lights holiday party and New Year’s Eve progressive dinner in the works to help residents celebrate the holidays.
So, if you live at Rocketts Landing, be sure to check out the Social Committee. They truly do a great job of ensuring our residents have fun and enjoy life. And we’ll be sure to keep you posted with event details as they develop!
